Water birth of Vincent Zia Burger Reichelt on 4th of April 2004.
When I noticed that I am pregnant, I was still in Germany. I went to different Gynecologists and they all made me quit crazy. They told me it might be difficult because I am already 32 years and I would have to make several tests and Ultrasound screenings, to make sure everything is all right. After three month, I had enough of running to the doctors and getting good advice from people around me. So, I decided to give birth in India. I heard already in Germany about the birthing- center and natural childbirth in Goa/ India. This was the best decision I could do!
Everything was so relaxed and I felt very secure. Corinna was the best Midwife I could have met and she took all the insecure away from me. We did only one time Ultrasound screening (instead of every month like at home) in 7th Month and in India I trusted much more in mother earth and myself. Last weeks before birth, we saw each other more often for check ups and we got a lot of information about birth and the time after, about changing in body and mind and actually all you want to know. This helped me a lot as it was my first birth and after all this stress in western world. I knew that Corinna is highly educated and I believed and trusted her completely.
Two days after due date the water brakes, meanwhile our evening walk. I called Corinna by Mobil and she said: ”Don’t worry!! Go home, I’ll come and see you.” At her visit, we checked Babies heartbeat and she told me that we have to wait for contractions and I should try to sleep at night. She gave me some homoeopathic and told me to call her if I need her. Because of her advice and normality, I stayed calm and felt asleep… At 5.00 am. I woke up with strong contractions. We informed Corinna and went to the birthing center. There, the atmosphere was very nice. Candle light, shanty music, a good smell and a laughing Corinna helped me a lot relax.
She asked me weather I would like to take a bath. This was perfect, because I had very strong contractions and I felt less pain in the warm water. Just when I thought, I could not go on anymore, Corinna advised me to push longer and stronger, to release and not to be afraid of the pain. She said: ”You can push the Baby out now.” - and held my hand all the time. On the other side of the tub was Dieter, my husband, holding my hand. That moment, our love Vincent came out of my body into the water and Corinna raised him out of the water and put him on my breast. The most wonderful feeling I ever had!
There was no cut, no tear and a lot of time to greet our little son. After refreshing, we had breakfast in the Garden and some hours after birth, we drove home… Thanks a lot!
